Evening in Tala was a success - thank you!

What a great night it was! We had our first "Evening in Tala" presentation and it was a success. Thank you Father for guiding and watching over the proceedings that night. There were approximately 50 people in attendance and several children were sponsored from Nice View Academy through our sponsorship program. I will be working on updating the website so you can see the children who are in need of sponsorship, but in the meantime if you would like more information about the program please email us at info@SavedByGodsGrace.org or call us at 1.800.718.5877.

Visit the website often as more information and pictures are updated.

Here are a few pictures of our "Evening in Tala". The first picture is items brought back from Kenya, many of which were given to us as gifts. The next is a picture board we displayed at the presentation (these were all taken during our time in Tala).

I would like to thank everyone involved, those who sponsored a child and those thinking of sponsoring a child. I know that God has this ministry in His caring and capable hands. He will lead us all on this journey if we only listen to the Holy Spirit and take that step in faith. May God bless you as you take that step!

Sad news

We received word today from Gideon (the director of Nice View) that one of our students, Stephen Wambua, was killed on May 12th while riding his bicycle to the market. I count it a blessing that I was able to talk with him during our visit. He was in class 7 and loved his Kiswahili class, he said "because it was simple" for him. Knowing that he was presented with the gospel during our visit and shown Christ's love makes it even more imperative to continue the work God has laid before Saved By God's Grace. Please take a moment to pray for the students and staff of Nice View during this time of mourning.

Evening in Tala presentation

Hi everyone - a lot has been happening since being back. One item to share - we are having an "Evening in Tala" night at Desert Breeze Community Church's office (17602 N. Black Canyon Hwy, #101, Phoenix AZ 85053). We will be having a PowerPoint presentation, answering questions, displaying some artifacts from Kenya, talking about how God worked, the continuing needs of the children and the upcoming fall mission trip. So to give everyone a taste of Tala here is a video of our first day at Nice View Academy. The kids were having a break in the morning for porridge. They get a break around 10 or 11 for porridge and then lunch break is around 1 or 2. Sometimes these are the only two meals many of the students receive for the day. Many parents (or single parent home or grandparents) cannot afford food that day so they may have to beg from a neighbor or wait for the next day at school to eat.

Technology - you gotta' love it!

Now that we are back to a speedy internet I thought this video was fun. It was a weekday during the school break (which was for one week). Tati' (in front), Caffe (in back) and Muuo (Caffe's uncle) were in the office with nothing to do so I turned on the webcam on my laptop. They were absolutely fascinated with it! We recorded several videos and they loved watching themselves on the playback. These kids are so excited about new things and new ideas. What a blessing it was to hear their ideas for the future of the school and for their lives. Please keep the students and staff of Nice View Academy in your prayers. God is Good and that is His nature!
