Back in warm weather!

Hi everyone - we are back in warm, sunny Phoenix. Thanks for the prayers - God brought us safely to all our destinations, He had people with open hearts attend the presentations and many were told of the work we do in Kenya.

Be sure to check out the Photo Gallery. New pictures are there of our recent "January 2009 US presentation tour". As I mentioned earlier, God was working the entire time and what an amazing journey it was and continues to be!

Nthenge is one of the reasons we go around the states telling people about our kids in Kenya. With the support we receive these kids are being fed, clothed, sheltered and educated - but most importantly they are seeing they are cared for and our God is a great God who provides for them.

We have plans to return to Michigan to speak at Delta College in March. We've had invitations to speak in Indiana, Oklahoma and Colorado. If you know of anyone who would like to hear about Saved By God's Grace, please contact us.

Please keep this ministry in your prayers. The food prices are still very high and public school teachers are on strike in Kenya (Nice View is a private school so the teachers are still teaching there). Our family and friends in Kenya live day to day on God's provision and we ask you to prayerfully consider donating.

Thank you again for your prayers. Mungu akubariki (God bless you).

Should be in Phoenix by tonight

Just a quick post to let you know we should be home tonight. I will write more later about this wonderful experience. God is Good!

Colorado beauty...

Driving through the Rockies takes my breath away - sometimes literally because of the altitude! But what an awesome sight of creation and it was created so we can enjoy it and know that there is One creator. God has blessed us with scenery, new experiences and friends. The presentations (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at Roger and Candy's went very well. We met wonderful people who have a heart for helping the children and we thank everyone for their support, prayers and encouragement.

We left Arvada, CO and headed to Paonia, CO. to the home of Lloyd and Jodie. What a gift of hospitality these two have. Paonia is a town of about 1,200 people and I think just about everyone knows Lloyd and Jodie and how they welcome everyone into their home. We were able to present the ministry on Saturday night and again we met great people who are truly concerned for the children in Kenya.

Many things were reaffirmed for me on this trip - God's timing is perfect, He provides the people, He moves hearts, He is sovereign, He works all things for His purpose.
I've seen many exciting things - God is working through all different types of people, He is showing His love through those people, prayers are said for the fallen, He makes some pretty awesome scenery.

This tour is for His glory and I thank Him for the opportunity to to be a small part of His plan. Please pray for safe travel as we head back to Arizona (not sure if it will be Tuesday or Wednesday) and continue to keep our kids in Kenya in your prayers.

Presentation in Oklahoma

This is Florence, sister to Gideon Malinda - Executive Director of Nice View Academy. The presentation went very well and we met some wonderful people. God always brings the people He wants to attend and I am always grateful for His providence of people in our lives.

Tonight we are having our first presentation in Colorado. Roger and Candy have been wonderful hosts and, again, I thank God for bringing people into our lives who have the same heart for His children.

Please pray for not only the presentations but for the people we have met and the people we will meet. May God bless them and bring His light into their hearts.

In Oklahoma City

Our presentation in Midland went very well - Bwana Asafiwe (Praise God)! So many interesting "coincidences" happened that I couldn't help but know that God was working.

  • Someone at the presentation knows the president of Delta College (a community college near Midland). Long story short we have been asked to be keynote speakers at Delta's Faith-based Initiative focusing on Kenya in March.

  • A neighbor, Cathy, works at a dentist office and wanted material to put in the lobby. She came by and picked up brochures, CD's and business cards...which leads to the next point

  • We went to Ponderosa (my favorite when visiting Michigan!) the same day and our waiter, Ben (hi Ben if you're reading!), is going to Moody Bible College in Chicago studying missionary work. We gave him a card and he said that morning at the dentist Cathy talked to him about our ministry!

  • We met a man who can help us get computers over to Kenya.

  • We were asked to return to St. Brigid's church (where our presentation was) next year for another update.

The list could go on and I know that God has been, is and will be forever faithful. I'm very excited to see where God is taking this ministry and how doors are opening. What a blessing to be a part of doing His work for His children in Kenya.

New video

Here is a video we created as an introduction at our presentations. I'm still working on getting it onto our homepage, but for now it's here. Plus I'm putting it on God Tube and You Tube. God is so good in giving us this technology to use to tell others about the needs in Kenya - please watch the video and tell me what you think...

All the pictures, video and music are from our trips to Kenya which include Nice View Academy, Mercy Child Foundation and Eldama Ravine Childrens Village.

On tour

We began our journey December 30th heading towards Michigan. We ran into much snow in Flagstaff but then the roads and weather were beautiful for the remainder of our trip. We crossed the Mississippi River, saw many truck stops along the way, a huge cross and a couple of beautiful sunrises. Yes we were on the road early enough to see the sunrise!

We arrived in Midland, Michigan on January 1 - Happy New Year - and will have our first presentation on Sunday.
Plans are to leave Midland on Thursday and head for Oklahoma City for another presentation on Saturday. If you know of anyone in that area and they would like to see the presentation have them email us for more information.

I did get some good news from Pauline at Nice View, the class 8 students received their scores and many of them did very well. I'm working on a different computer so I don't have the scores handy but will try to get those posted on another blog post.

Please remember our brothers, sisters and children in Kenya. They are still struggling with failed crops and it pains me to think of them not eating while many of us here in the states are trying to stop eating so much.

Thank you for all your prayers as we travel telling others about the plight of our children in Kenya.
